Special features of your HDD DVD recorder
Your HDD DVD recorder provides you with perfect digital video recording and playback in studio quality. You can record television programmes on the built-in hard disc of the HDD DVD recorder, a DVD+RW/-RW or DVD+R/-R. With the time shift function you can watch television programmes with a time shift which are stored in the time shift memory. You can stop these programmes and continue playback at the same point. Switch on the television and select the preset channel for the HDD DVD recorder. Press » « to switch on the HDD DVD recorder from standby mode. When you switch on the HDD DVD recorder, the current programme that you can see on the television screen is recorded in the time shift memory. Note: Please select the recording quality before starting the recording. See the section on custom settings and selecting the recording quality on page 96.

Switch to disc mode with » « (blue). Open the disc compartment, insert the disc with the label facing upwards and close it. Display: The recording time and the amount of recording time still available. Press »SOURCE« to select the input source (for example, TV). Press »A« or »S« or use the numerical buttons »1. . . 0« to select the TV channel or open the programme list with »OK«, press »A« or »S« to select the TV channel and switch off the programme list with »x«. If you would like to change the recording quality, press »Q-SET« until the recording quality you want appears in the display. Open the HDD archive by pressing » « (yellow).

If the HDD archive is full up or you want to make a back-up copy of special recordings, you can copy the data from the HDD archive onto a disc. 1 2 3 To make a copy, put a DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R or DVD-RW into the disc compartment. Select » HDD« with »S« or »A« and activate with »OK«. Note: You can also open the HDD archive by pressing »

If the length of the title is greater than the space left on the disc, the message » DVD is full« appears. To copy the title you must split it, see the section on splitting titles in two on page 79.
