Cleaning the scan unit Keeping the scan unit clean helps ensure the best possible copies. We suggest that you clean the scan unit at the start of each day and during the day, as needed. Wipe the surface of the scanner glass and ADF glass until it is clean and dry. 4. With a dry lint-free cloth, wipe away any dust and spilled toner from the print cartridges area and their cavities. 4. Wipe the underside of the scanner lid and white sheet until it is clean and dry. Close the scanner lid. If toner gets on your clothing, wipe it off with a dry cloth and wash it in cold water. Locate the long strip of glass (LSU) inside the cartridge compartment, and gently swab the glass to see if dirt turns the white cotten black. 6. Reinstall all the compartments into the machine, and close the front cover. If the front cover is not completely closed, the machine will not operate. Plug in the power cord and turn the machine on. Maintenance_ 63 MAINTAINING THE CARTRIDGE Print cartridge storage To get the most from the print cartridge, keep the following guidelines in mind: · Do not remove the print cartridge from its package until ready for use. The machine warranty does not cover damage caused by using a refilled cartridge. · Store print cartridges in the same environment as your machine. · To prevent damage to the print cartridge, do not expose it to light for more than a few minutes. 2. Grasp the handles on the print cartridge and pull to remove the cartridge from the machine. Expected cartridge life The life of the print cartridge yield depends on the amount of toner that print jobs require. When printing text at ISO 19752 5% coverage, a new print cartridge lasts an average of 2, 000 or 4, 000 pages. The actual number may also be different depending on the print density of the pages you print on, and the number of pages may be affected by operating environment, printing interval, media type, and media size. [. . . ] - Light: This setting is for bolder line widths or darker gray-scale images. - Dark: This setting is for finer line width, higher definition in graphics, and lighter gray-scale images. · Toner Save Mode: Selecting this option extends the life of your print cartridge and reduces your cost per page without a significant reduction in print quality. - Printer Setting: If you select this option, this feature is determined by the setting you've made on the control panel of the printer. - On: Select this option to allow the printer to use less toner on each page.
