The procedures described below assume familiarity with the general terminology associated with personal computers and with the safety practices and regulatory compliance required for using and modifying electronic equipment. Disconnect the system from its power source and from any telecommunications links, networks, or modems before you open the system or follow any of the procedures described below. Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage disk drives and other components. If such a station is not available, do not work in a carpeted area, and do not handle materials that produce or hold static electricity (cellophane wrappers, for example). To avoid burns to fingers or hands, let the computer cool completely before detaching the memory module lid.

If the compartment contains a memory module, remove it. Lift the memory module by its edges to remove it from the computer.

Unpack the new memory module. Install the memory module by matching the connector on the memory module unit to the connector on the computer.

Gently press the white stripe of the memory module tightly into place.

Close the memory module compartment lid by sliding it back into place until it clicks. If the additional memory is not shown, repeat steps 1-11.
