The Power-on Security message box appears if the power-on fingerprint security memory is not full.
Click a button above the finger of which fingerprint you want to use for the Power-on Security feature and Next.

If the Power-on Security memory contains the enrolled fingerprints, no buttons are displayed on the Power-on row.
Click Finish.

To log onto the system using the Power-on Security feature
1 2 Turn on the computer. Swipe the finger with the enrolled fingerprint across the fingerprint sensor. Windows launches.
Alternatively, you can press the Esc key and enter your password on the keyboard.
Up to 21 fingerprints can be enrolled for logging onto your system using the Power-on Security feature.
To exclude fingerprints from authentication with the Power-on Security feature
Once the Power-on Security feature has been enabled, any additional fingerprints you enroll will be used for fingerprint authentication with the feature. To exclude such fingerprints from authentication, follow these steps:

You need to set the power-on password and enable the Power-on Security feature in advance to exclude fingerprints.
Click Start, All Programs, Protector Suite QL, and Control Center. The Power-on Security window appears.

The Power-on Security option is not displayed if you have not set the power-on password in advance.
Select the finger of which fingerprint you exclude and click Remove.

Using the Password Bank
Once you have registered your user information (user accounts, passwords, etc. ) for Web sites in the password bank, you can substitute fingerprint authentication for entering required information and access the password-protected Web sites.
Adding an Entry to the Password Bank
To access a password-protected Web site using the fingerprint authentication functionality, you need to add a password bank entry for the Web site.
To add an entry to the password bank
1 2 3 4 5 Visit the desired password-protected Web site to display the user account and password entry window. Swipe the finger with the enrolled fingerprint across the fingerprint sensor to display the menu. To view or edit the entry, click Registration Details on the message balloon.
!Never add TPM passwords (see Using Trusted Platform Module (TPM) (page 122)) to the password bank.

Using a Password Bank Entry to Access a Web Site
Once you have added an entry to the password bank, you can use it to access the corresponding password-protected Web site.
To access a password-protected Web site
1 2 3 Visit the desired password-protected Web site to display the user account and password entry window. A message balloon appears to indicate that you have a password bank entry for the site. Swipe the finger with the enrolled fingerprint across the fingerprint sensor. If a security warning window appears, click Yes or OK to proceed.
You can always type your user information that has been registered in the password bank to access password-protected Web sites.

Importing/Exporting Password Bank Entries
You can export/import entries to/from the password bank for a backup or recovery purpose.
To export an entry
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Click Start, All Programs, Protector Suite QL, and Control Center. If you use fingerprint authentication with the TPM, it may take longer for you to log onto your system or you need to enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) when logging onto Windows depending on the settings. In addition, if you change the settings for the TPM or the TPM fails, you may not be able to use the fingerprint authentication functionality. Note that using fingerprint authentication with the TPM has such drawbacks. Sony assumes no liabilities for any problems and damages arising out of your use of the TPM and the maintenance and management of fingerprint authentication data that you carried out at your own risk.
Before enabling the TPM
To use fingerprint authentication along with the TPM, you need to install and initialize the TPM software and customize the settings yourself first. For more information on how to install and initialize the software, see Configuring the TPM (page 127).

However, if you do not set the password, you may lose data when the TPM fails, and if you set the password, the security level is decreased. Be sure to keep it safe and private from other people.
10 After setting the password, click Next. 11 Click Finish.
The Create PIN window asks you to set the PIN if you select TPM Key with PIN in step 8 and click OK.
