BEFORE USING THE WASHING MACHINE
1. Removing the packaging and check
• After unpacking, make sure that the washing machine is undamaged. • Keep the packaging materials (plastic bags, polystyrene parts, etc. ) out of reach of children, as they are potentially dangerous.
6. Electrical connections
• Electrical connections must be carried out by a qualified technician in compliance with the manufacturer’s instructions and current standard safety regulations. • Voltage information, power consumption and electrical protection data are supplied on the inside of the appliance door. • The appliance must be connected to the mains exclusively by means of a socket with an earth connection in accordance with established regulations. [. . . ] Pre-bleach method: Laundry with heavy stains may be PRE-BLEACHED in the machine prior to carrying out a normal wash programme. Proceed by diluting the bleach in approximately 1l water outside of the washing machine in a small container.
For a machine with temperature selector:
• Turn the programme selector to programme 4. In case of interrupted electricity do not open the door, because hot water could be released from the appliance.
Programme end
The programme selector knob is at the stop position. Do not fully close the door but leave it ajar to allow the drum to dry out.
Changing programme
1. Press the “On/Off” button. For this programme do not add any further detergent.
Changing options
The options can be selected or deselected without switching off the appliance.
Programme interruption or pause
To interrupt the running programme for a certain period and continue it at a later time: 1. Press the “On/Off” button. 2. Following the desired pause press the “On/Off” button once again.
Cancelling the programme
If the current programme is to be terminated prematurely and cancelled, the water must be pumped out first before the door can be opened: 1. Press the “On/Off” button to switch off the appliance. 2. Set the programme selector to programme setting “Drain”. 3. Press the “On/Off” button in order to start the “Drain” programme. 24

REMOVING THE FILTER
1. Switch off the appliance and drain the water (see next paragraph “Draining residual water”). Slowly turn the filter anticlockwise without unscrewing it completely (using pliers to handle the filter grip makes screwing easier). Pour 1/2 litre of water into the detergent drawer and check that water does not leak from the filter. • Check the filter if the appliance is not draining properly or if it fails to perform spin cycles. • Remove the filter if the pump is blocked by an object (buttons, coins, safety pins, etc. ). IMPORTANT: Make sure the water has had time to cool before draining the appliance.

DRAINING RESIDUAL WATER
1. Switch off the appliance. 3. Unclip the drain hose connection on the rear part of the machine (see arrow A and B). Note: After a correct draining cycle the residual water amounts about up to 1 litre but there can be up to 20 litres of water in the machine if stopped during a programme and even 40 litres if the pump is blocked. Fix again the drain hose on the rear side of the machine (see arrow B) otherwise there is the risk of leakage and the normal filling and draining functions of the machine cannot be guaranteed. • If the appliance is installed in a room subject to sub-zero temperatures. 25

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Appliance exterior and control panel
• Clean using normal household cleaner (do not use abrasive products and no solvents). • Dry with a soft cloth.
Door seal
• Clean with a damp cloth when necessary. • Periodically check the fold of the seal for foreign objects.
Filter
• Check and clean the filter two or three times a year (see “Removing the filter”).
Detergent dispenser
1. Disengage the detergent dispenser by pressing the release lever and lately remove the drawer. [. . . ] If the hose is too short, replace it with a 3 m Water Stop hose (available from After-Sales Service or from your dealer). This operation must be carried out exclusively by a licensed electrician. The appliance must not be connected to the mixing tap of a nonpressurized water heater. The inlet hose and the plastic enclosure at the tap connection contain electrical components. [. . . ]
