Basic Manual Advanced Manual This manual helps you get used to the camera. [. . . ] Protected pictures cannot be erased by the single-frame/allframe erase function, but they are all erased by formatting. Select the picture that you want to protect, and display the top menu.

Copying pictures to a card (BACKUP)
You can copy (backup) all the image data stored in the internal memory to the card. The image data in the internal memory is not erased by copying it to the card. Operate the camera with the card inserted.

Note
· When the card has insufficient memory, [CARD FULL] is displayed, and copying is canceled. · When the f mark is blinking, pictures cannot be backed up because of insufficient battery power. · If the battery power is exhausted while copying, the image data may be lost or damaged. · Never open the card cover, remove the batteries, or connect or disconnect the AC adapter during copying as this may cause malfunction of the internal memory or the card.

Erasing pictures
This function erases recorded pictures. Pictures can be erased either one at a time or all the pictures in the internal memory or card at once. · When you want to erase pictures in the internal memory, do not insert the card. Check each picture before erasing to avoid accidentally erasing pictures you want to keep. 64)

Formatting
This function lets you format the internal memory or card. Formatting prepares cards to receive data.
· To format the internal memory, do not insert the card. · Before using non-OLYMPUS cards or cards which have been formatted on a computer, you must format them with this camera.
All existing data, including protected pictures, are erased when the card is formatted. Make sure that you save or transfer important data to a computer before formatting the card.

Settings
One of the key features of a digital camera is that you can view the pictures you have taken immediately. For example, you can set the startup screen so that one of the pictures you have taken is displayed when you turn the camera on. And if you lend the camera to friends from abroad, you can select the appropriate language for on-screen display.
