Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. [. . . ] They are not labeled on the keyboard as shown here. Microsoft WindowsTM Keys There are two special WindowsTM keys on the keyboard as described below. The key with the WindowsTM Logo activates the Start menu located at the bottom left of the WindowsTM desktop. The other key, that looks like a WindowsTM menu with a small cursor, activates the properties menu and is equivalent to pressing the right mouse button on a WindowsTM object. 35 3 Getting Started Keyboard as Cursors The keyboard can be used as cursors while Number Lock is ON or OFF in order to increase navigation ease while entering numeric data in spreadsheets or similar applications. For example [Fn][8] for up, [Fn][K] for down, [Fn][U] for left, and [Fn][O] for right. With Number Lock ON, use [Shift] and one of the cursor keys shown below. For example [Shift][8] for up, [Shift][K] for down, [Shift][U] for left, and [Shift][O] for right. NOTE: The large bold characters and symbols are printed here for your reference. They are not labeled on the keyboard as shown here. 36 Getting Started 3 Buttons and Indicators Top Left Front Edge Top Right Power4 Gear Button The Power4 Gear button toggles power savings ON or OFF. When power savings is activated, CPU speed and LCD brightness will be decreased. Power Indicator The green LED lights to indicate that the Notebook PC is turned ON and blink when the Notebook PC is in the Suspend-to-RAM (Standby) mode. This LED is OFF when the Notebook PC is OFF or in the Suspend-to-Disk (Hibernation) mode. Charge Indicator The charge indicator LED shows the status of the battery's power as follows: [ON] Charging, [Off] Charged or completely drained, [Blinking] Battery lower than 10% Drive Activity Indicator Indicates that the Notebook PC is accessing one or more storage device(s) such as the hard disk. The light flashes proportional to the access time. Wireless LAN Indicator (Optional) Flashes when there are packets transmitted or received by the internal wireless LAN. This indicator only functions with the optional internal wireless LAN. Power Switch The power switch allows powering ON and OFF the Notebook PC and recovering from STD. Push the switch once to turn ON and once to turn OFF the Notebook PC. 37 3 Getting Started Power4 Gear Modes The Power4 Gear button toggles power savings between various power saving modes. This Notebook PC features a power output jack to replace the bulky AC adapter. IMPORTANT!When disconnecting the external optical drive, you must select the device icon on the taskbar and select "Disconnect" in order to prevent data loss. 43 4 Using the Notebook PC Using the External Slim Optical Disk Drive 1. Press the stop/open button on the top cover panel of the drive to open the top cover. 2. When the top cover opens, carefully lift the top cover fully upward. 3. Push down on both sides of the disc's center until the disc snaps onto the hub. Close the top cover by gently pressing the cover downwards until the top cover locks in place. When the drive stops, the disc is ready to be used. NOTE: It is normal to hear as well as feel the disc spinning with great intensity in the optical drive while data is being transferred. 44 Using the Notebook PC 4 Ejecting a Disc from the External Slim Optical Disk Drive 1. Press the open/stop button on the top cover panel of the drive to open the top cover. NOTE: The eject button is electronic and requires power in order to use. Using the Slim Optical Disk Drive's Emergency Manual Eject The emergency manual eject on the bottom of the drive allows you to manually open the top cover and remove a disc from the drive in the following instances: · · Supply of power to the computer is cut due to electrical power outage The drive malfunctions NOTE: Use the emergency manual eject only as a last resort when the open/stop button does not work in order to prevent premature damage. Make sure that you have unplugged the external optical drive before using the emergency manual eject. Follow these steps to manually open the top cover of the drive using the emergency manual eject. 1. Lift the external optical drive and place upside down to expose the bottom of the drive. [. . . ] Reverse engineering or disassembly is prohibited. 78 Appendix A Nordic Cautions (for Notebook PC with Lithium-Ion Battery) CAUTION!Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer.
