[. . . ] Your VERSATIS must be kept away from sources of excessive heat (radiators, direct sunlight, etc. ) and protected against vibrations and dust. Never allow your telephone to come into contact with water or other liquids, or with aerosols. To reduce the risk of interference and optimize reception, take particular care to keep it away from windows, large metal objects, reinforced concrete, televisions, music centers, halogen lamps or heating devices, fluorescent lighting, burglar alarms, microwave ovens, computers, etc. To clean your VERSATIS, use a lightly moistened antistatic cloth. [. . . ] To activate this function: l l l l Press Press Press Press . for 2 seconds to access the Programming menu. to activate the function or for 2 seconds to confirm. to deactivate it. 6. 4 CHANGING THE PROGRAMMING PIN By default, the system code (PIN) is 0000. To change it: l l Press Press for 2 seconds to access the Programming menu. (0000 by default). Enter the current system code: Versatis-150_uk. qxd 08/03/02 15:49 Page 24 24 When the display shows l Enter the new system code: . ____ When the display shows l Confirm by entering the new system code again: . 4 The PIN modification is acknowledged by a beep. !Make sure that you remember your system code. Otherwise you will have to reset the base as described below: l In idle mode, press the key on the base for about 6 seconds. 4 The base light starts flashing. l l Release. Press again for 6 seconds. 4 The light starts flashing rapidly. l l Release. The base light is steady. 4 The reset is complete. Now you will have to register all of the handsets with the base again (see "Adding an Extra Handset"). These services can be accessed by pressing the (time break recall) key. This may need to be modified on the instructions of the network operator: l l Press Press for 2 seconds to access the Programming menu. for a 600 ms break. l Press for 2 seconds to confirm. USING YOUR TELEPHONE WITH MORE THAN ONE HANDSET As stated at the beginning of this guide, you can use up to 5 handsets with the VERSATIS base station. You can call one of the group handsets, transfer calls between handsets, or bring another handset in on an outside call (3-way conference). 7. 1 l l ADDING AN EXTRA HANDSET Press the Press key on the base for 5 seconds until the light flashes. for 2 seconds. 4 A beep signals that the base is ready for the registration process. l l Enter the system code (0000 by default): Wait a few seconds. . 4 A beep is emitted when the registration process is complete. The number of the handset appears automatically on the right of the display. To check that the handset has been registered, seize the line by pressing: tone. . You should hear the dial Versatis-150_uk. qxd 08/03/02 15:49 Page 27 27 7. 2 UNREGISTERING A HANDSET !This operation must be performed using a different handset from the one you want to unregister. l l Press Press . for 2 seconds to access the Programming menu. 4 A confirmation tone is emitted. l Press . 4 The number of the handset(s) available for unregistration appears. l Enter the number of the handset to be unregistered. 4 A beep indicates that the operation has succeeded. 7. 3 l l CALLING ANOTHER HANDSET Press . The number will appear on the left of the display. Dial the number of the handset (1 to 5): To end the call: l Press to hang up. Your handset rings, To take the call: l Press . To end the call: l Press to hang up. 7. 5 TAKING AN OUTSIDE CALL WHEN IN INTERCOM MODE When you are in communication with another handset, you are still available to take outside calls. To pick up an incoming call: l Press to terminate your internal call. Then l Press again to take the outside call. The number will appear on the left There are 2 possible outcomes: l The internal correspondent answers. or l 4 Press 4 Press to transfer the call. The internal correspondent doesn't answer. to retrieve the external correspondent. 7. 7 SHUTTLING BETWEEN TWO CORRESPONDENTS (1 INTERNAL + 1 EXTERNAL) During an outside call: l Press . 4 The outside party is placed on hold. The number will appear on the left 4 When the internal correspondent answers, you are in intercom mode. l You can now press correspondents. successively to switch back and forth between your internal and external 7. 8 SETTING UP A 3-WAY CONFERENCE (2 INTERNAL CORRESPONDENTS + 1 EXTERNAL) To bring another handset in on an outside call: l Press . 4 The external correspondent is placed on hold. l Enter the number of the handset: . [. . . ] You will then be unable to make or receive calls in the event of an emergency. This is why we recommend that you also have a conventional telephone as a backup.
