Jumping directly to a specific page You can jump directly to a page by inputting the page number with the on-screen numeric keyboard. Tap "Enter Page #" on the Page Jump panel. To delete the number, tap the (Backspace) key. Hint Up to 11-digit number can be input. Tap "Go. " The input page appears. To close the numeric keyboard Tap , or press the OPTIONS button. Continued 88 Reading Books Going back to previously displayed pages ("History") You can go back to previously displayed pages. In the book page, press the OPTIONS button, then tap "History. " The History Jump icons appear. (Previous View) History Jump icons (Next View) Tap (Previous View). To return to the current page, tap (Next View). Hints You can also perform the same operation by dragging on the touch screen or pressing < > (Page Turn) buttons while the History Jump icons are displayed. If you tap on the page number, the History Jump icons disappear, and the Page Jump bar appears. To hide the History Jump icons Tap , or press the OPTIONS button. Continued 89 Reading Books Searching a book for keywords ("Search") You can search for keywords by using the on-screen keyboard ( page 65). There are two ways to search for a keyword: ­ Double-tapping a word in the book page of the book. ­ Using the Option menu ( page 92). To search by double-tapping a word In the book page, double-tap the desired word. The pop-up menu appears. (Search) Close icon Pop-up menu Note If you display the tool bar from "Create/Edit Notes" within the Options menu, you cannot display the pop-up menu, but only select the word temporarily by double-tapping on that page. (However, you can search a word by selecting "Search" from the Option menu. ) To cancel the selection, deactivate all the items on the tool bar, then tap any point on that page of the book. Hint To select consecutive words, double-tap the first word and drag across the desired portion. Continued 90 Reading Books Tap (Search). The results are highlighted on the page. Search result page Tap (Next Search) to skip to the next page that contains the input word(s). To return to the previous page containing your input word(s), tap (Previous Search). To exit the search result page Tap . Hint If you select "Search" from the Option menu again, the on-screen keyboard will appear with the searched word in its input area. Continued 91 Reading Books To search from the Option menu In the book page, press the OPTIONS button, then tap "Search. " The on-screen keyboard appears. Input area Input a word using the on-screen keyboard ( 65), then tap "Search". tap The word is highlighted. (Highlight) Close icon Pop-up menu Hints To highlight consecutive words or multiple lines, double-tap the first word and drag across the desired portion, then tap (Highlight). To delete the highlight, press the OPTIONS button, then tap (Eraser) on the tool bar. Then, tap or "Create/Edit Notes" stroke a part of the highlighted word(s). Note If you display the tool bar from "Create/Edit Notes" within the Options menu, you cannot display the pop-up menu, but only select the word temporarily by double-tapping on that page. (However, you can search a word by selecting "Search" from the Option menu. ) To cancel the selection, deactivate all the items on the tool bar, then tap any point on that page of the book. Continued 99 Reading Books To highlight a word(s) from the Option menu In the book page, press the OPTIONS button, then (Highlight marker). tap "Create/Edit Notes" The color of in the tool bar is shaded and the highlighting function becomes available. Drag across the word(s) on the book page. The word(s) is highlighted. (Highlight marker) Highlighted word Hints To highlight multiple lines of text all at once, drag across the lines starting from the first character to the last character. (Eraser), then tap or stroke a To delete the highlight, tap part of the highlighted word(s). Continued 100 Reading Books Notes Once you tap (Highlight marker) / (Eraser), it will remain active until you tap another item in the tool bar. While an item on the tool bar is active, you cannot select a word by double-tapping. While no item is active, you can select the word, but cannot display the pop-up menu. (However, you can search a word by selecting "Search" from the Option menu. ) To cancel the selection, deactivate all the items on the tool bar, then tap any point on that page of the book. While you are viewing a comment of a highlight in the Comment viewer, you can delete both the highlight and comment by tapping "Delete" ( page 108). You can delete all the notes within a book from the Option menu of the "Notes" list ( page 110). Note Hints When you delete a highlight with a comment, both highlight and comment will be removed. Tap "Yes" in the confirmation message to delete both the highlight and comment. Continued 101 Reading Books Marking up a book page by handwriting ("Create/Edit Notes") You can freely mark up a book page using the supplied stylus or a finger. In the book page, press the OPTIONS button, then tap "Create/Edit Notes" (Pen).
