[. . . ] Repeat same The CANON 130f printer and scanner drivers have been installed. If your machine has an optional second cassette installed, you must enter the driver and activate it. See "Activating the optional second paper cassette" on page 2-11 for instructions on how do this. 2-10 130f PCL driver Installation Activating the optional second paper cassette 2 If your machine has an optional second cassette installed, you must enter the driver and activate it. To activate the optional device: 1 Click [Start] % [Settings] % [Printer]. 2 Right click the "CANON 130f (or PCL5e)" icon, then click [Printing Preference]. 3 Click [Device Option] tab. 5 Click [OK], then close the printer. 130f PCL driver 2-11 2 2. 1. 4 Installing both PCL5e and PCL6 driver Installation If you want to install both drivers connecting with USB interface, first finish installation of one driver and go to the other through "Add New Printer Wizard". For Windows XP user 1 Click [Start] % [Printers and Faxes]. In Windows XP Home Edition, click [Start] % [Control Panel] % [Printers and other Hardware] % [Printers and Faxes]. 2 Select [Add Printer] from [File] menu to start the "Add New Printer Wizard". 3 Select "Local printer attached to this computer" and clear the check box for "Automatically detect and install my plug and play printer", then click [Next]. 4 Select [USB port] for printer and click [Next]. 6 Insert the supplied PCL printer driver CD into your CD-ROM drive, then click [Browse]. 7 Browse to the following location on the CD depending on your choice, and then click [OK]. H H H Select the language you prefer. If you are using Windows® 2000 or Windows® XP, please use an USB port or an optional network interface port. For Windows NT® 4. 0, you must be logged in as the Administrator. 2. 2. 1 Parallel port connection Note Be sure to use a shielded parallel cable. Use of an unshielded cable may result in radio interference. 1 Turn off both the machine and your computer. 10 Confirm that the added port is selected for your machine, then click [OK] or [Close]. 130f PCL driver 2-21 2 For Windows NT 4. 0 user Installation "Microsoft TCP/IP Printing service" should be installed in your PC to print to TCP/IP-connected printer. If it has not been installed in your PC, refer "Installing Microsoft TCP/IP Printing service in Windows NT 4. 0" on page 2-23 to install. Then configure printer port according to the following procedures. 1 Click [Start] % [Settings] % [Printer]. 2 Right click on the "CANON 130f printer" icon and select [Properties] from pop-up menu. 3 Click [Ports] tab and then click [Add Port]. 5 Select [LPR Port] and click [New Port]. Note If "LPR Port" is not shown in the "Available Printer Port", "Microsoft TCP/IP Printing service" has not been installed in your PC. Install it referring to "Installing Microsoft TCP/IP Printing service in Windows NT 4. 0" on page 2-23. 6 Enter IP address assigned to your machine in "Name or address of server providing lpd", and enter printer name in "Name of printer or printer queue on that server". Then click [OK]. 7 Confirm that the added port is selected for your machine, then click [OK] or [Close]. 2-22 130f PCL driver Installation Installing Microsoft TCP/IP Printing service in Windows NT 4. 0 If Microsoft TCP/IP Printing service is not installed in your PC, you can install it by following procedures. 2 1 Click [Start] % [Settings] % [Printer]. 5 Follow the instructions appears on the screen to complete the installation. 130f PCL driver 2-23 2 2. 4 Uninstalling the driver Installation Uninstall is required if you are upgrading the software or if your installation fails. Note For Windows® 2000, Windows® XP and Windows NT® 4. 0, you must be logged in as the Administrator. For Windows® 98 and Windows® Me 1 Select [Start], [Settings], [Control Panel], [Add/Remove Programs] and the [Install/Uninstall] tab. 2 Select "CANON 130f " and click the [Add/Remove] button. 3 Follow the instructions appears on your screen. For Windows® 2000 Professional 1 Select [Start], [Settings], [Control Panel] and [Add/Remove Programs] and [Change or Remove Programs] icon. 2 Select "CANON 130f " and click the [Change/Remove] button. 3 Follow the instructions appears on your screen. For Windows® XP 1 Select [Start], [Control Panel], [Add or Remove Programs] and the [Change or Remove Programs] icon. 2 Select "CANON 130f " and click the [Change/Remove] button. 3 Follow the instructions appears on your screen. 2-24 130f PCL driver Configuring printer driver settings 3 3 3. 1 Configuring printer driver settings Open the printer properties There are two ways to open the printer properties: G G From your application software From the printer icon Note Changing the printer properties from the printer icon will change them for all documents you print on this printer. Note "600 × 600" provides better quality, but it also takes longer to print at this setting than at "300 × 300". 130f PCL driver 3-11 3 3. 4. 3 True Type Mode Configuring printer driver settings Automatic When the font in the document is a printer-resident font, the printer uses it to printout. When the printer does not have the font, the font data will be transferred to the printer as outline data.
