Front View
(1) ADF (Auto Document Feeder)
Load a document to copy, scan, or fax. The documents loaded in the Document Tray are scanned automatically one sheet at a time.
See Loading Documents in the ADF.
(2) Document Feeder Cover
Open when clearing jammed documents.
(3) Document Guides
Adjust these guides to match the width of document in the ADF.
(4) Document Tray
Open to load a document in the ADF. You can load two or more sheets of document of the same size and thickness. Load the document with the side you want to scan facing up.
(5) Document Output Slot
Documents scanned from the ADF are delivered here.
(6) Paper Support
Supports paper loaded in the Rear Tray. [. . . ] Setting Passwords for PDF Files
Application Settings
Open with
You can select whether to open the View & Use window or Explorer after saving the images.
Start scanning by clicking the one-click button
Select this checkbox to start scanning when you click an icon in One-click Mode.
Apply
Saves and applies the specified settings. Click Cancel instead of Apply to cancel the specified settings.
Cancel
Cancels the specified settings. The current screen closes.
Defaults
Returns all settings in the screen to their defaults.
Scan
Scans and saves documents with the specified settings. Click Open Manual to open this guide (if it is installed).

Scan Settings Dialog Box (One-click Mode Screen)
The Scan Settings dialog box opens when you click Specify. . . In the Scan Settings dialog box, you can make advanced scan settings.
Note
The displayed items vary by document type and how the screen was opened.
Document Type
Select the type of document to be scanned. When Auto Mode is selected, the document type is automatically detected. are automatically set as well.
Important
To scan correctly, select a document type that matches the document to be scanned. Place documents correctly according to the type of document to be scanned. See "Placing Documents " for details on how to place documents.
Color Mode
Select how to scan the document.
Color
This mode renders the image in 256 levels (8 bit) of R(ed), G(reen), and B(lue).
Grayscale
This mode renders the image in 256 levels (8 bit) of black and white.
Black and White
This mode renders the image in black and white. The contrast in the image is divided at certain levels (threshold level) into black and white and is rendered in two colors.
Document Size
Select the size of the document to be scanned. When you select Custom, a screen in which you can specify the document size appears. Select a Units, then enter the Width and Height and click OK.

Important
When you select Auto Detect, the image may not be scanned at the correct position and size. In that case, change the size to the actual document size (A4, Letter, etc. ) and align a corner of the document with the corner at the arrow (alignment mark) of the Platen.
Orientation. . .
Set the orientation and stapling side of the documents to scan from the ADF (Auto Document Feeder).
Important
Binding Location cannot be specified when scanning only the front side of each document.
Scanning Resolution
Select the resolution at which to scan documents. Resolution
Recommended Image Correction / Auto Photo Fix / Auto Document Fix
The displayed item varies by Document Type.
Recommended Image Correction
This is displayed when Document Type is Auto Mode. Select this checkbox to apply Auto Photo Fix or Auto Document Fix based on the document type.
Auto Photo Fix
This is displayed when Document Type is Photo. Select this checkbox to automatically analyze the captured scene (landscape, night scene, etc. ) and apply suitable corrections.
Auto Document Fix
This is displayed when Document Type is Magazine or document. Select this checkbox to sharpen text in a document or magazine for better readability.
Important
When this checkbox is selected, the files can be saved in JPEG/Exif or PDF format only. These functions are not available when the Scan Settings dialog box is opened from the OCR dialog box. Auto Photo Fix is not available when Color Mode is Grayscale or Black and White. Auto Document Fix is not available when Color Mode is Black and White. Auto Photo Fix and Auto Document Fix are not available when the Compress scanned images when transferring checkbox is selected on the " General Tab" of the Preferences dialog box. checkbox and scan. [. . . ] The character that can be used for the WEP key differs depending on the selected key formats.
ASCII Specify with a 5 or 13-character string that can include alphanumeric and underscore "_" characters. Hex
Specify a 10-digit or 26-digit string that can contain hexadecimal (0 to 9, A to F, and a to
f).
Key Length
Length of the WEP key. Longer key length allows you to set a more complex WEP key.
L
Link Quality
The status of connection between the access point and the printer excluding noise (interference) is indicated with a value from 0 to 100%.
LLTD
A Link Layer protocol built in Windows Vista for network topology discovery and quality of service diagnostics.
LLTD is used by its Network Map feature to display a graphical representation of the local network.
LPR
A platform-independent printing protocol used in TCP/IP networks. It is not supported bidirectional communication.
