[. . . ] Press Stop or Exit to stop sampling before the programmed length. FORCE SAMPLING Upon initiating this soft key, the E4K will begin sampling immediately. To Force Sampling: 1. Press Stop or Exit to stop sampling before the programmed length. Sample Manage MONITOR ON/OFF Allows you to monitor the input source through the main outputs before, during and after sampling occurs. Normally this function will be On so that you can monitor your sample quality, but there may be instances, such as a feedback loop in your mixing board, where you would want to turn sample monitor Off. Sample Manage 169 KEYBOARD SAMPLE TRIGGER Sampling can also be initiated by playing a specified MIDI note. Sampling will continue as long as the key is held and stop when the key is released (or the selected sample length is reached). This has several applications: · Automatic "punch-in/punch-out" using a MIDI sequencer to initiate sampling via note-on/note-off events. This makes it easy to integrate "live" vocal or guitar parts into your MIDI sequences. Now press and hold the key while playing the keyboard with your left hand. Assign the sample to the trigger key, select another preset and record track two. . . (You have 64 or 128 tracks, depending on how many voices in the Emulator. ) To Trigger Sampling from a Key Depression 1. Move the cursor to Trig Key and select the key using the data entry control. Move the cursor to Chan and select the MIDI Channal for the trigger key using the data entry control, or inc/ dec keys. Press Stop or Exit to exit Key Sample Trigger before sampling. Key High Key Auto Truncate Normalize Loop Target Preset Placement Range Erases the Sample Clip Indicator Target Group Keeps (but doesn't place) the Sample Auto-Places the Sample · Dispose: Erases the sample and returns you to the New Sample menu. · Keep: Keeps the sample and performs the auto-DSP functions, but does not auto-place the sample. · Place: Keeps the sample, performs the auto-DSP functions and auto-place functions, then returns you to the New Sample menu. The automatic DSP parameters are as follows: · Auto Truncate: (Off, Start, End, Both) Automatically truncates the start or end of the sample or both. The Zero Crossing Threshold parameter (Master, Misc. ) determines the point at which truncation begins. · Auto Normalize: (Off, Absolute, Relative) Automatically increases the amplitude of a sample until the largest peak reaches 100% of full scale. Relative mode increases the amplitude of stereo samples until the largest peak of one side reaches 100%. Absolute mode increases the left and right samples to full level independently. Absolute and Relative have no effect when sampling in mono. Sample Manage Sample Manage 171 · Auto Loop: (Off, Whole, 1/2, 1/2 + xfd, 1/3, 1/3 + xfd, 1/4, 1/4 + xfd, 1/8, 1/8 + xfd) This function automatically loops and autocorrelates the sample, then crossfade loops it if selected.
