It can also be used for barbecues, soldering, tinning and loosening of some adhesive joints and overtight screws, clean paint from tools and age wood (the heat darkens the surface). TO OBTAIN THE BEST RESULTS FROM YOUR HEAT GUN KIT PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE USE. Heat Settings The heat gun has a variable heat setting in order to give greater control over the working temperature. [. . . ] Ensure you have the nozzle facing the correct way to deflect the heat away from the glass before you switch on. Rotate the gun or nozzle 90o as you move to horizontal or vertical bead. Paint can be removed from profile surfaces by using a shavehook and/or a soft wire brush. WARNING: Be careful Glass can break easily due to sudden temperature change! Not suitable for PVC frames! 4 Shavehooks Select the required blade from the set. Take the shavehook handle from the set, remove the nut from the end, fit the required blade then fix in place by refitting Triangular Shavehook and tightening the nut. Use the triangular shavehook for stripping paint from flat wooden surfaces and edges, use the combination or heart shavehooks for mouldings in convex or concave profiles. Remember to clean the blade after use with wirewool and lightly oil before storing. Combination Shavehook Heart Shavehook Assembly of Shavehook Defrosting frozen pipes Choose the Hook nozzle and fit over the heat outlet. Always heat from one or other end of the frozen portion, not from the middle. Shrink sealing electrical cables Choose the Hook nozzle and fit over heat outlet. Select a heatshrinkable sleeve with a diameter matching that of the workpiece. Welding plastics Choose the Concentrator or Deflector nozzle and fit over heat outlet. The materials being welded together must be of exactly the same type of plastic. Heat the seam until the plastic becomes tacky, then apply the other surface. WARNING: Plastic can very quickly change from being tacky into becoming liquid. Turn the gun upside down and place on it's stand so that it is resting on a secure bench with the nozzle pointing upwards; see picture below. To avoid buckling or kinking 5 the tube, fill the tube with dry sand and seal at both ends. Heat the tube evenly by moving from side to side and bend to required shape. WARNING: Protect hands from heat. Bending Plastic Tubing Cooling The nozzle of the heat gun can become very hot during use. Stand the heat gun upright as shown to allow convection currents to cool the nozzle. To speed up the cooling time, set the heat setting to the minimum and run the heat gun for 2-3 minutes. Always allow at least 30 minutes for the heat gun to cool after switching off. [. . . ] The scraper, shavehooks and nozzles are classed as consumables and are not covered by guarantee.
