Perform the leak test outdoors in a well ventilated area, away from any open flame, heat, or ignition sources. If bubbles are formed there is a leak that must be eliminated before you proceed. Attempting to light burner with the lid closed may cause an explosion. Hold lighted match up through lighter/ventilation hole located in center of bottom shell, while turning regulator valve knob to light position. Preheat grill for 5 minutes on high before use with lid closed, then turn control to desired level for cooking. If burner flame goes out when the unit is in use, immediately turn gas control to "OFF". Open lid and wait 5 minutes for gas to clear before relighting burner. Do not expose any part of your body directly above cooking area when lighting. Before cooking for the first time, operate the grill 15 minutes on high with top closed. Your grill will cook for approximately 2 hours with the burner set on high, using one 16. To help keep dirt out of the propane bottle probe, storage in heavy plastic bag is recommended.
