[. . . ] This can be done by selecting the option called Restore Factory Settings. 32 Reference To restore the factory settings: 1. Use the ROCKER keypad to move the cursor to the file tab for which you want to restore the factory settings. A window is displayed with Restore Factory Settings highlighted (top right picture). If desired, repeat steps 1 through 3 for other file tabs. System Setup The file tab headings and System Setup functions are: Restoring Factory Settings General - Simulator, Night Mode, Battery Type, Beeper, and Distance Units. Time - Formats for 12 or 24-hour Time, Time Zone, Display of Current Time and Date, Sunrise and Sunset Times. The following pages describe, in more detail, the available setting for each System Setup file tab item. 33 Reference `General' File Tab `General' File Tab (top left picture) Simulator - Allows you to operate the StreetPilot indoors to plan trips and find locations when the unit is unable to receive GPS satellite signals. The Simulator Mode is especially useful if you are indoors and wish to try the StreetPilot features. Night Mode - Night Mode alters the display colors for more comfortable viewing in dim ambient conditions. Auto mode activates the Night Mode feature between sunset and sunrise using the GPS clock for the current day of the year. Backlight Timeout - Allows continuous screen/keypad backlighting when (Always On) is selected or activates automatic shutoff to limit battery drain. Automatic shutoff times (from last key press) range from 15 seconds to 4 minutes. Battery Type - Used to designate the type of batteries currently being used to power the StreetPilot: Alkaline or NiCad (Nickel Cadmium). This setting enables more accurate readings from the battery gauge on the Dashboard Page (see page 27). Beeper - Allows you to determine when the internal beeper sounds: Key and Message, Message Only, or None. The beep confirms that a button has been pressed or indicates a message. Night Mode `General' File Tab Distance Units - Allows you to select the desired units of measure for distance in Miles or Kilometers. If you select Miles, the speed will be shown in Miles per Hour and the elevation will be shown in feet. 34 Reference `Alarms' File Tab (top right picture) `Alarms' File Tab Approaching Waypoint Alarm - Provides an alarm message once you are within a set time (choices range from 15 seconds to five minutes) from your turn or destination waypoint. As you approach the waypoint, a message occurs when your estimated arrival time is within the alarm time entered. Speed Alarm - Provides an alarm message as a reminder when your speed exceeds a preset limit. To enable/disable the speed alarm: 1. If enabling the alarm, highlight the speed field and press the ENTER key. Enter the desired alarm speed using the ROCKER keypad ( bottom right picture) and press the ENTER key. `Alarms' File Tab Setting Alarm Speed 35 Reference `Time' File Tab `Time' File Tab (top left picture) Time Format - Allows the current time to be displayed using a 12 or 24-hour clock. Time Zone - Used to determine the current local time. To enter a time zone: 1. [. . . ] Overall Avg - Your average speed of travel (including time stopped) during the time the StreetPilot has been tracking your location, since the Trip Computer was last reset. Speed - The current velocity at which you are traveling, relative to a ground location. Stopped Time - The length of time which the vehicle has been stopped (stationary) during the time the unit has been tracking your location, since the Trip Computer was last reset. Time to Go - The estimated time it will require for you to reach your destination, based on your current speed and the distance to the destination. [. . . ]
