Protect the switch at all times against excessive moisture, dust, dirt, lint, construction grit and corrosive vapors. It is best if the transfer switch is mounted near the utility meter, either inside or outside. The remote module can be located anywhere between the main distribution panel and its connected load, either inside or outside.
