The bizhub 500/420 User manual [Enlarge Display Operations] contains details on the operation of the various functions available in the Enlarge Display mode of the bizhub 500/420 and on the various operating precautions. In order to ensure that this machine is used correctly and efficiently, carefully read this guide before using the machine. The original can be fed in either of the following ways. Be sure to position the original correctly according to the type of original being copied. - Using the ADF - Placing the original on the original glass Positioning the original into the ADF bizhub 500/420 2-3 2 Positioning original 1 Position the original (first page) face up into the ADF. 2 Slide the adjustable original guides against the edges of the original. 2-4 bizhub 500/420 Positioning original 2 Positioning the original on the original glass 1 2 Lift open the ADF. Position the original face down onto the original glass. When loaded in the v orientation: When loaded in the w orientation: ­ Position the original pages so that the top of the original is toward the back or the left side of the machine. bizhub 500/420 2-5 2 Positioning original 3 Align the original with the mark in the back-left corner of the measuring guide. 4 Close the ADF. 2-6 bizhub 500/420 Positioning original 2 Scanning a multi-page original from the original glass When making double-sided or combined copies using the original glass, place each page of a multi-page original on the original glass to scan it. The following procedure describes how to place single-sided original pages on the original glass to make double-sided copies. bizhub 500/420 2-7 2 Positioning original 1 2 Lift and open the ADF. Position the first page or the first side of the original face down onto the original glass. Scanning begins. The message "Scanning stopped. Press [Start] to continue. Copying original of mixed sizes ("Mixed Original" setting) Original of different sizes can be positioned together into the ADF to be fed and scanned one by one automatically. Copies using automatic paper selection Copies using automatic zoom selection Mixed original Mixed original 2-12 bizhub 500/420 Positioning original 2 1 Arrange the original pages so that the side to be copied (first page) faces up, as shown in the illustration. Position the original (first page) face up into the ADF. ­ Slide the adjustable original guides against the edges of the original. ­ Position the original pages into the ADF so that the top of the pages is toward the back or the left side of the machine. 2 bizhub 500/420 2-13 2 Positioning original 3 Touch [Combine Originals] on the Basic Screen. The Combine Originals Screen will be displayed. 4 Touch [Mixed Original]. The copies will be made in full size mode using paper of the same size as the original set. 2-14 bizhub 500/420 Positioning original 2 To copy to a single paper size in magnification ratio appropriate for each original, touch [Paper] on the Basic Screen to select the desired paper size, then touch [Zoom] to select [Auto Zoom] on the Zoom Screen. ! Detail To cancel the "Mixed Original" setting, touch [Mixed Original] again to deselect it. bizhub 500/420 2-15 2 Positioning original Selecting the original orientation (Original Direction settings) When copying double-sided original, making doublesided copies, or using a Combine Originals setting, specify the original orientation. The following procedure describes how to copy a single-sided original using basic copy operations. To make a copy 1 Press [Copy] on the control panel, and then press [Enlarge Display] . Various settings are available for folding copies in half or in three before they are fed out. - Fold & Staple - Half Fold 2 Note During the Enlarge Display mode, the 1%2 setting and Booklet function are not automatically selected along with Fold & Staple or Half Fold mode, as they are in normal display mode.
