Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] Digital Still Camera User's Manual Thank you for your purchase. For the correct usage of this product, please read this User's Manual and warranty card carefully and keep them in a safe place for future reference. Before accepting the warranty card, please make sure that the date of purchase and the dealer's details have been completed. Before Using Your Camera Please be sure to read this manual before use. Test shooting Be sure to take some test shots before taking important pictures (such as business or weddings) to make sure that the camera is working properly. Results are not guaranteed In the unlikely event that a problem arises in shooting or reproducing pictures due to the camera or memory card used, please understand that no compensation can be made. Be aware of copyright Any pictures that you take of existing images may be used for personal use only. [. . . ] If the subject is not facing the pre-flash or final flash, or the distance to the subject is too far, the red-eye reduction effect may not be apparent. If flash is in the AUTO flash mode, it will not fire in a bright place. Slow Sync The flash is fired at a slower shutter speed. This flash mode is effective when taking pictures so that not only the subject but also the background are both clearly reproduced in artificial light (backlighting, fluorescent lighting, etc. ) or with people against the night as a background scene. Forced flash The flash will always fire regardless of the surrounding brightness. Select this mode for recording images with high contrast (backlighting) and deep shadows. Select this mode when taking images in a place where flash photography is prohibited, or when the distance to the subject is beyond the effective range of the flash. Use a tripod to prevent shaking as shutter speeds are slower in the dark. EN-20 Setting Image Resolution and Quality Resolution and quality settings determine the pixel size (dimension), image file size, and compression ratio for your images. These settings affect the number of images that can be stored in memory, or on an SD memory card. As you get to know the camera, it is recommended that you try each quality and resolution setting to get an appreciation of the effects that these settings will have on your images. Higher resolution and higher quality images offer the best photographic results but produce large files sizes. High resolution and quality settings are recommended for printed output and situations requiring the finest detail. Lower resolution/quality images take up less memory space and may be quite suitable for sharing images via e-mail, in a report, or on a web page. Move to IMAGE SIZE or QUALITY (QUALITY can be changed in Manual Record menu only) with the or button and press the button. Press the shutter button. EN-21 Number of Recordable Images The frame counter indicates the approximate number of images that can be stored on the internal memory or the SD memory card at the cameras current image quality and size settings. The number of recordable images may vary depending on the recorded subject and the capacity of the memory card, or if there are files other than images, or when the recording is made while switching the picture quality/resolution. EN-22 Taking Pictures Manually You can take pictures by manually adjusting conditions such as white balance and exposure. For white balance or exposure information, refer to WHITE BALANCE or EXPOSURE in Manual Record menu. Move to WHITE BALANCE or EXPOSURE by using the or button, and press the button. Press the shutter button. EN-23 Playback Mode In the mode, you can view, magnify your images or play video clips back. This mode even provides thumbnail images display and slide show, allowing you to quickly search for the image that you want or play the images back one by one automatically. Viewing Your Images (Single Frame Playback) Play back photographed still images one image at a time. To view the next image, press the button. Note: If there is no image stored in the internal memory or on the memory card, [ ] message will appear on the LCD monitor. First connect one end of the video cable to the video out jack of the camera. Turn the mode dial to the mode and then turn the TV and camera on. Displaying Thumbnail Images This function allows you to view thumbnail images on the LCD monitor simultaneously so that you may search for a particular image. [. . . ] The screen will return to normal brightness as the internal temperature of the camera rises. If the LCD monitor becomes dirty with fingerprints or dust, wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
