To change the location of the spade grip from one position to the other, loosen the hex bolts with a wrench and turn the spade grip to another position. To start the tool, simply pull the lower part of the switch trigger for clockwise or the upper part for counterclockwise. To change the speed, pull the pin and slide the button to the "L" position for low speed or the "H" position for high speed. To remove the bit, turn the chuck key counterclockwise in just one hole, then loosen the chuck by hand. CAUTION: Always be sure that the tool is switched off and unplugged before carrying out any work on the tool. When drilling action is forward (clockwise), the tool should be braced to prevent a counterclockwise reaction if the bit should bind. If the bit must be removed from a partially drilled hole, be sure the tool is properly braced before reversing. Hold the tool firmly and exert care when the bit begins to break through the workpiece. A stuck bit can be removed simply by setting the reversing switch to reverse rotation in order to back out. Avoid drilling in material that you suspect contains hidden nails or other things that may cause the bit to bind or break.
