[. . . ] Setting the number of rings You can set the number of rings before the answering machine is activated. You have the following options: · You can switch the answering machine to economy mode in order to save telephone charges for remote enquiry. In this case the answering machine will respond after two rings if there are new messages. If there are no new messages the answering machine will only respond after six rings. You can therefore tell if new messages have been recorded without incurring the charges for making a connection. In order to change the option press the # key until the required option is announced. You can then decide if you want to intercept the call or continue recording. If you restore the base station to the factory settings the remote enquiry pin will return to "0000". You can operate the answering machine by remote control from another telephone. The telephone you want to use to access the answering machine must be able to send inband dialling signals. Retrieving messages from the answering machine Call your connection from a touch tone capable telephone extension. In economy mode the answering machine will respond after two rings if there are any new messages. If there are no new messages the answering machine will only respond after six rings. You can therefore tell if new messages have been recorded without incurring the charges for making a connection. If the answering machine is switched off it will cut in after ten rings. You will hear a recorded announcement asking you to enter your remote enquiry pin. If you enter the wrong remote enquiry PIN twice the connection is automatically cut off. You can now listen to the recorded messages and change settings on the answering machine. Playing back messages Press number 1 on the keypad to play back all the messages. Press number 4 on the keypad during playback to repeat the current message. Press number 4 on the keypad during the date and time announcement in order to listen to the previous message. The following requirements must be met in order to be able to send and receive text messages: · The telephone number of an SMS centre must be stored as a special "SMS centre" number. [. . . ] place the handset into a charging cradle connected to the mains supply. Charge the handset until all three bars are displayed in the battery symbol. Use a different handset to make telephone calls while this handset is charging. Make sure that the handset being called is registered on the base station and within range. [. . . ]
