At low zoom levels (minimal enlargement of the map section), the map is automatically rotated so that it always faces north: This mode improves clarity and prevents countries or regions from being displayed upside down. o In the map in direction of travel mode the map is always shown in the direction you are currently travelling in: depending on the level of zoom, it may be that the region or land you are currently driving in is shown on its side or upside down on the screen. In the map north mode, the map is alway shown in the direction of north: in real terms, this means that direction you are travelling in may differ from or even be the complete opposite of the map orientation. o · Display type o In the 2D map view the map on screen is shown two-dimensionally. In this mode you can change as often as you like between the display options smart, map in direction of travel and map north. In the 3D map view mode, the map is tilted and shown three-dimensionally. In this mode, the display options smart, map in direction of travel and map north are not available. o Tip o You can switch between the 2D and 3D map view directly using the compass symbol on screen. · Auto zoom o When the auto zoom function is active, the current map section is enlarged to a medium zoom level if a manoeuvre is soon to be performed. Adjusting the Program settings In this sub-menu you can adjust program-specific parameters. · TMC settings This sub-menu allows you to adjust the reception of TMC traffic news. Note TMC is a digital radio data service which transmits information about traffic congestion via the Radio Data System (RDS) and can be interpreted by your navigation device. TMC uses data supplied by the police, traffic jam reports or other available sources. The reception quality of the traffic service signal is indicated via the status indicator on the upper edge of the map view. If your navigation system is designed to receive TMC news, you can select the following options using the buttons in the lower portion: o By pass o o The traffic jam avoidance function based on TMC information is not active With the manual traffic avoidance function you are only informed of any traffic disturbances conveyed via TMC with a warning symbol in the map view. The device calculates an automatic traffic jam detour (see also "Traffic jam detour" section on page 15) using the available TMC information. o o o Station search Your navigation device automatically searches for a station. If reception quality 30 Adjusting the settings deteriorates, the device immediately starts searching for a new station. o Using manual station search you can permanently set a TMC station using the buttons and .
