»>
During power failure the 9V (1604) alkaline or carbon-zinc battery maintains your Out Going Message (OGM), any recorded messages and your Security Code, but the unit will not operate until mains power is restored.
note
»>
If you do not install a 9V (1604) alkaline or carbon-zinc battery, any disruption to the mains power supply will result in loss of your own OGM announcement, any recorded messages and your own Security Code. This means your unit will answer call on the 4th rings if there are no new messages, or on the 2nd rings if new messages have been record. Therefore when you are calling your unit remotely you will know by the 3, d ring if there are nQ new messages. So you can hang up saving the cost of the call.
