Searching stops when a station is found. With the built-in tuner, you can enjoy AM and FM radio stations. 1 TUNER Use the [TUNER] input selector button to select AM or FM. FM STEREO AUTO TUNED Tuning into Weak FM Stereo Stations If the signal from a stereo FM station is weak, it may be impossible to get good reception. In this case, switch to Manual Tuning mode and listen to the station in mono. Note: · You can also use the remote controller's Up and Down [ ]/[ ] buttons to tune the radio. 40 Listening to the Radio--Continued Tuning into Stations by Frequency You can tune into AM and FM stations directly by entering the appropriate frequency. While holding down the [MEMORY] button, press the [TUNING MODE] button. When tuned into an RDS station, the RDS indicator appears. It was developed by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and is available in most European countries. In addition to displaying text information, RDS can also help you find radio stations by type (e. g. , news, sport, rock, etc. ). The AV receiver supports four types of RDS information: PS (Program Service) Varied Pop music Rock music Middle of the road music Light classics Serious classics Other music Weather Finance Children's programmes Social affairs Religion Phone in Travel Leisure Jazz music Country music National music Oldies music Folk music Documentary Alarm test Alarm When tuned to an RDS station that's broadcasting PS information, the station's name will be displayed. Pressing the [DISPLAY] button will display the frequency for 3 seconds. RT (Radio Text) When tuned to an RDS station that's broadcasting text information, the text will be shown on the display (see page 43). PTY (Program Type) This allows you to search for RDS radio stations by type (see page 43). TP (Traffic Program) This allows you to search for RDS radio stations that broadcast traffic information (see page 43). Notes: · In some cases, the text characters displayed on the AV receiver may not be identical to those broadcast by the radio station. Also, unexpected characters may be displayed when unsupported characters are received. [. . . ] Can't control other components · Make sure you've selected the correct remote controller mode (page 10). · If you've connected an -capable Onkyo MD recorder, CD recorder, or RI Dock to the TAPE IN/OUT jacks or CBL/SAT jacks, for the remote controller to work properly, you must set the Input Display to MD, CDR, or DOCK (page 37). · With some AV components, certain buttons may not work as expected, and some may not work at all. · To control an Onkyo component that's connected via , point the remote controller at the AV receiver.
