Connecting to other manufacturer's components may cause them to malfunction. 40 Connecting--Continued Controlling Components That Are Out of Range You can use the following multiroom kits to control the RDV-1. 1 when it's out of range of the remote controller: · Multiroom kits such as those made by Niles and Xantech. RS232 HDMI Y Components For another component that is out of range of its remote controller, you can use a commercially available IR emitter to retransmit the remote controller signals received at the RDV-1. 1's IR IN, as shown below. Signal flow Connect the IR emitter to the RDV-1. 1's IR OUT, and place the IR emitter in front of the other AV component's remote control sensor (usually located on its front panel), as shown below. See the instructions supplied with the IR emitter. Miniplug cable Signal flow IR IN OUT RDV-1. 1 Controlling Other Out-of-range 41 Connecting--Continued Connecting the Power Cord Notes: · Before connecting the power cord, complete all of the necessary audio and video connections. · Do not use a power cord other than the one supplied with the RDV-1. 1, which is designed exclusively for use with the RDV-1. 1 and should not be used with any other component. · Never disconnect the power cord from the RDV-1. 1 while the other end is still plugged into a wall outlet. · The RDV-1. 1 is shipped with the Power switch in the On position ( ). When the power cord is connected for the very first time, the RDV-1. 1 will go on Standby and the Standby indicator will light up. · To completely shutdown the RDV-1. 1, set the Power switch to the Off position ( ). DVD CHANGER MODEL NO. DPC-7. 4 AC INLET 1 2 Plug the supplied power cord into the RDV-1. 1's AC INLET. The Standby indicator comes on only if the Power switch is in the On position ( ). 42 Connecting--Continued Turning On the RDV-1. 1 Standby/On Power 1 Set the Power switch to the On position ( ). The Standby indicator lights up. 2 Press the [Standby/On] button. The display light ups, the On indictor lights up, and the Standby indicator goes off. The very first time you turn on the RDV-1. 1, the Initial Setup menu appears onscreen (see page 44). Press the [Standby/On] button again to enter Standby. LINK connections and correct as necessary (page 34). 94 Troubleshooting--Continued Symptom SACD audio is not output by the analog audio outputs?Possible cause This is because the i. LINK Output Setting is set to On. While the i. LINK Output Setting is set to On, the Analog Audio Out Speaker Setting, Speaker Distance, and Test Tone settings have no effect and are unavailable.
