[. . . ] AM or FM Input Source Note: When playing a Dolby Digital source, the message "Dialog Norm xx" may appear on the display, "xx" being a number. Dialog normalization is a function of Dolby Digital that is used to correct the playback level of soundtracks that have been recorded at an unusually high or low level. It appears on the display just to let you know that it's working. It's unaffected by the TX-NR901's volume control. Displaying Source Information You can display various information about the currently selected input source by first pressing the scroll wheel, and then pressing the [DISPLAY] button repeatedly. This function can be used with the following listening modes: Mono, Stereo, All Ch St, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Pro Logic II Movie, DTS, DTS-ES, DTS Neo:6 Cinema, THX Cinema, and THX Surround EX. These adjustments are not saved and the previous settings will be resumed when the TX-NR901 is set to Standby. Notes: · The Re-EQ function can also be set on the onscreen setup menus (see page 69). When the TX-NR901 is set to Standby, it returns to the default setting. · When the listening mode is not THX, the default setting is Off. 1 Press the scroll wheel, and then use the [CH SEL] button to select each speaker. Speakers are selected in the following order. CH SEL Using the Late Night function (Dolby Digital only) With the Late Night function you can reduce the dynamic range of Dolby Digital material so that you can still hear quiet parts even when listening at low volume levels--ideal for watching movies late at night when you don't want to disturb anyone. The volume can be adjusted from ­12 to +12 dB in 1 dB steps (­15 to +12 dB for the subwoofer). L NIGHT Press the scroll wheel, and then press the [L NIGHT] button repeatedly to select: Off: Late Night function off. High: Large reduction in dynamic range. Note: · You cannot select speakers that are set to No or None on the Speaker Configuration menu (see page 41). Notes: · The Late Night function can also be set on the onscreen setup menus (see page 69). · The effect of the Late Night function depends on the Dolby Digital material that you are playing, and with some material there will be little or no effect. · The Late Night function is turned off when the TX-NR901 is set to Standby. 62 Advanced Operation Using the Multichannel Input This section explains how to use the multichannel analog input. Connecting the 5. 1 or 7. 1 analog outputs of your DVD player to the multichannel analog input allows you to enjoy DVD-Audio discs and Super Audio CDs, providing that your DVD player supports those formats. Networking the TX-NR901 · For best results, a 100Base-T switched Ethernet network is recommended.
