[. . . ] When you select DVD or another video component, on your TV, you'll need to select the video input that's connected to the AV receiver/AV amplifier's COMPONENT VIDEO OUT, HDMI OUT or MONITOR OUT. On some DVD players, you may need to turn on the digital audio output. AV receiver/ AV amplifier Remote controller 3 or To adjust the volume, use the MASTER VOLUME control, or the remote controller's [VOL] button. It has a wide volume range, allowing precise adjustment. 54 Basic Operations--Continued Using the Multichannel DVD Input The multichannel DVD input is for connecting a component with a 7. 1-channel analog audio output, such as a DVD-Audio or SACD-capable DVD player, or an MPEG decoder. The MULTI CH indicator appears on the display. MULTI CH indicator Displaying Source Information You can display various information about the current input source as follows. Press the [RECEIVER] button, and then press the [DISPLAY] button repeatedly to cycle through the available information. Audio from the multichannel DVD input will now be used for the DVD input source. Note: While the multichannel DVD input is selected, the Speaker Configuration settings on page 70 are ignored, and signals from the multichannel input are fed to the speakers as they are. Note: This procedure can also be performed on the AV receiver/AV amplifier by using its [DISPLAY] button. The following information can typically be displayed for input sources. Input source & volume Signal format* or sampling frequency Input source & listening mode Adjusting the Bass & Treble You can adjust the bass and treble for the front speakers, except when the Direct or Pure Audio (not North American models) listening mode is selected. 1 Press the [TONE] button repeatedly to select either Bass or Treble. * If the input signal is analog, no format information is displayed. If the input signal is digital but not PCM, the signal format is displayed. Information is displayed for about three seconds, then the previously displayed information reappears. 2 Use the TONE [­]/[+] buttons to adjust. Bass You can boost or cut low-frequency sounds output by the front speakers from ­10 dB to +10 dB in 2 dB steps. Treble You can boost or cut high-frequency sounds output by the front speakers from ­10 dB to +10 dB in 2 dB steps. 55 Basic Operations--Continued Using the Sleep Timer With the sleep timer, you can set the AV receiver/AV amplifier to turn off automatically after a specified period. Press the [RECEIVER] button, and then press the [SLEEP] button repeatedly to select the required sleep time. The SLEEP indicator appears on the display when the sleep timer has been set. The specified sleep time appears on the display for about five seconds, then the previous display reappears. If you need to cancel the sleep timer, press the [SLEEP] button repeatedly until the SLEEP indicator disappears. To check the time remaining until the AV receiver/AV amplifier sleeps, press the [SLEEP] button. Note that if you press the [SLEEP] button while the sleep time is being displayed, you'll shorten the sleep time by 10 minutes. Press [RECEIVER] first DIMMER SLEEP MUTING Setting the Display Brightness You can adjust the brightness of the display. Press the [RECEIVER] button, and then press the [DIMMER] button repeatedly to select: dim, dimmer, or normal brightness. Alternatively, you can use the AV receiver's [DIMMER] button (not European models). Using Headphones You can connect a pair of stereo headphones (1/4-inch phone plug) to the AV receiver/AV amplifier's PHONES jack for private listening, as shown. Muting the AV receiver/AV amplifier You can temporarily mute the output of the AV receiver/ AV amplifier. The output is muted and the MUTING indicator flashes on the display, as shown. To unmute the AV receiver/AV amplifier, press the [MUTING] button again, or adjust the volume. The Mute function is cancelled when the AV receiver/AV amplifier is set to Standby. Notes: · Always turn down the volume before connecting your headphones. · The speakers are turned off while the headphones plug is inserted in the PHONES jack (Zone 2 speakers are not turned off). · When you connect a pair of headphones, the listening mode is set to Stereo, unless it's already set to Stereo, Mono, Direct, or Pure Audio (not North American models). [. . . ] Be sure to enter the appropriate remote control code first (page 90). Tuner (TX-SR605 only) Reception is noisy, FM stereo reception is noisy, or the FM STEREO indicator doesn't appear · Relocate your antenna. · When listening to an AM station, operating the remote controller may cause noise. · If nothing improves the reception, install an outdoor antenna. 96 Troubleshooting--Continued Recording Can't record · On your recorder, make sure the correct input is selected (e. g. , digital or analog). · When the Pure Audio listening mode (not North American models) is selected, recording is not possible because no video signals are output.
