Balancing the volume level among the speakers when MULTICH INPUT is selected: If you selected MULTI-CH INPUT in Step 2, you need to adjust the level balance of the connected speakers. The best results are obtained from DOLBY PRO LOGIC Surround when the center and left and right front speakers contain the same amounts of mid and high frequencies. As the Treble and Bass control do not affect the Center speaker, adjust the tone controls for the left and right front speakers to match the sound produced from the center speaker. Because of this, we recommend you use a good quality center speaker. Adjusting the volume level of the subwoofer You can adjust the volume level of the connected subwoofer. Press the CH SEL button on the remote controller to display the SUBWOOFER indicator, and press the LEVEL or button to adjust the level. (between ­ dB, ­30 dB and +12 dB) 14 Listening to your favorite source Headphones PHONES You can connect stereo headphones with a standard stereo plug to the PHONES jack. The sound heard through the headphones is the same sound that can be heard from the Front speakers, although it may be slightly different from what is heard from the speakers when Surround mode is used. CD DVD Temporary muting Press the MUTING button on the remote controller. This button temporarily mutes the sound from the speakers or headphones. To cancel, · press the MUTING button again, or · turn the power off, then turn it on. No sound from the center speaker, or very minimal sound. Hum, low-frequency noise. Howling when the volume is turned up. Buzzing noise on AM (particularly conspicuous at night or with weak stations).
