To prevent hair damage, make sure to use the correct temperature setting for your hair type. 9-12 Hair Type Dry, fine, fragile or damaged hair Dry, normal to thick; Easy to straighten hair Dry, very thick; Difficult to straighten hair; or Damp, fine or damaged hair Damp, fine to normal, Easy to straighten hair Damp, thick, difficult to straighten hair Wet, fine, fragile or damaged hair Wet, normal, to thick hair How to Use Closing Lock This professional flat iron has a closing lock to make the unit easier to store. To lock the iron, simply squeeze the plates together and push the switch to the lock position. NOTE: Do not heat the unit in the locked position. Press and hold the on/off button until the unit turns on and the LCD lights up. The bars on the LCD will flash while the unit heats up, then glow steadily when it has reached the selected temperature. Test the styler on a small section of hair, then adjust the temperature up or down before styling the rest of your hair. NOTE: If you find that you need a higher setting while styling your hair, simply adjust the temperature by pressing the "+" button. While styling your hair, if you find that you need a lower setting, adjust the temperature by pressing the "-" button. Because the unit is already hot, it may take a few minutes to cool off. It will beep when it cools to the lower temperature. 8 Maintenance and Troubleshooting Cleaning Make sure the unit is unplugged and cool. Use a damp cloth to clean the plates and the outside of the power handle. Divide hair into vertical sections, parting the hair from the top of the head down to the chin. Hold the styler vertically and starting at the roots, clamp hair between the plates and run the styler out along the entire hair strand pulling the styler away from the face and toward the back of the head. Do not hold the styler in one area. Error Messages Storage Unplug the unit whenever it is not in use. Allow it to cool, then store it out of reach of children in a safe, dry location.
