Manual abstract: user guide ROTEL RA-1520

Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose the unit to moisture or water. If the unit is exposed to moisture, or a foreign object gets into the enclosure, immediately disconnect the power cord from the wall. Take the unit to a qualified service person for inspection and necessary repairs. Read all the instructions before connecting or operating the component. [. . . ] In practice, very few loudspeakers will present any problems for the RA-1520. Note: To use the remote, aim it at the remote sensor on the front panel of the RA-1520. Two UM-4/AAA size batteries (supplied) must be installed before the remote control can be used. To install the batteries, remove the cover on the back of the RR-AT94. install the batteries as shown in the illustration in the battery well. When the batteries become weak the remote control won't operate the RA-1520 consistently. If you are attaching bare wires directly to the binding posts, separate the wire conductors and strip the insulation from the end of each conductor. 5mm IR OUT jack sends IR signals received at the EXT REM IN jack to an infrared blaster or emitter placed in front of a source component's IR sensor. In addition, the IR OUT connection can be hard-wired to Rotel CD players, DVD players, or tuners with a compatible connector. For example, this allows the RA-1520 to pass along IR signals when the sensors on the source components are blocked by installation in a cabinet. Note: Remove the batteries from the remote if it will not be used for a long period of time. Do not leave run down batteries in the remote control; they can leak corrosive chemicals which will damage the unit. Note: Be sure there are no loose wire strands that could touch adjacent wires or connectors. See Figure 3 The RA-1520 has line level inputs for source components, connections for audio tape decks, and preamp output connections to send signals to an external power amplifier. 5mm (mini jack) is inserted into the Media Player socket the rear input called AUX is disconnected. 5mm plug from the Media player socket will allow the rear AUX input to function. The RA-1520 has a pair of preamp outputs that can send a variable gain signal to an external power amp or signal processor. The preamp outputs are standard RCA-type output connectors, compatible with the inputs of most power amplifiers. Use high quality cables and be sure to connect the left and right channel outputs of the RA-1520 to the correct channels of the amplifier. Note: To prevent loud, potentially damaging, noises, make sure the system is turned off when you make any signal connections. Plug the cable from the turntable into the appropriate left and right phono inputs. If the turntable has a "ground" wire connect it to the screw terminal to the left of the Phono inputs. [. . . ] If you encounter problems, isolate the area of the difficulty, check the control settings, determine the cause of the fault and make the necessary changes. If you are unable to get sound from the RA-1520 refer to the suggestions for the following conditions: Should you need to reset the IR code, press the MUTE button A on the RR-AT94 remote control for more than 5 seconds while pointing it at the RA-1520. The unit will return to default condition and the Listening CD LED q will turn on to indicate the IR code is reset. The power indicator ring around the power button should be lit whenever the RA-1520 is plugged into the wall power outlet and the POWER switch is pushed in. [. . . ]
