Take the unit to a qualified service person for inspection and necessary repairs. Read all the instructions before connecting or operating the component. Heed all warnings and safety information in these instructions and on the product itself. Changing Display Brightness There are seven stages of brightness for the front panel display plus an OFF option. Press the DIM button on the remote repeatedly to step through the options. If the display is turned off, press the DIM button once to restore the display to the brightest setting. NOTE: Track 1 Track 2 Track 3 Track 1 Track 2 A DVD-Audio disc contains Groups, with each group divided into Tracks. Some DVDAudio discs also contain a Bonus Group that can only be played back by entering a Key Number password. Most DVD-Audio discs include other information in addition to audio, such as still pictures, movies and text. ON/OFF Functions The RTC-970 has a master POWER switch on the front panel. While a disc is playing, pressing the right TRACK button once advances to the beginning of the next Chapter or Track. Pressing the left button returns to the beginning of the current scene or song. Still-Frame: When playing a video disc, a still-frame picture remains on the TV screen with no sound when the PAUSE button is pressed. Press the PAUSE button again to advance to the next still-frame picture. Each button press advances one frame. Slow Speed Play Press the SLOW button on the remote to begin slow motion forward play at 1/2 normal speed. Repeatedly press the button to step through additional options (1/4 speed, 1/8th speed, 1/2 speed reverse, 1/4 speed reverse, 1/8 speed reverse) and back to normal play. NOTE: Zoom When playing a DVD-Video disc, the RTC-970 can zoom in to enlarge a section of the picture to 1. 8, 4, or 8 times its original size. The zoom feature is available for full-motion video during playback or for stillframe pictures while the unit is paused. While zoomed, you can move the displayed image up, down, left, or right to view the desired portion of the full image. The sound is muted during slow-motion play. On DVD-Audio discs, the SLOW button is used to view still pictures. 21 English NOTE: It is typical for a zoomed video image to look coarse or blurry. Each press of the ZOOM button changes the size of the picture: 1. 8x, 4x, 8x, and back to normal size. Selecting Subtitles Some DVD-Video and DVD-Audio discs can display subtitles in various languages during playback. Typically, you select these subtitles with the disc's setup menus which appear when you insert the disc or which can be accessed during playback by pressing the MENU button. In addition, you can change the subtitles during playback by pressing the SUBTITLE button on the remote. The Status Bar appears on the screen showing the current subtitle language and its number along with the total number of available subtitle options. [. . . ] This item allows you specify whether these unrated titles will be played when Parental Controls are turned on. · ALLOW: Unrated titles will be played without restriction, even when Parental Controls are turned on (default). · RESTRICT: Unrated titles cannot be played without entering the pass code. · 1080p: Progressive-scan high-def resolution. · PROGRESSIVE: 480p (NTSC) or 576p (PAL) progressive-scan resolution (default setting).
