[. . . ] 15 Don't use accessories or attachments other than those we supply. 16 Don't use the coffee maker for any purpose other than those described in these instructions. 17 Don't connect the coffee maker to an external timer or remote control system. 18 Don't use the coffee maker if it's damaged or malfunctions. 23 Lift the lid off the coffee mill, and put fresh roasted coffee beans into the mill. 24 The amount will vary with the type of coffee and individual taste, but we suggest one level tablespoon per cup. 26 The mill will grind the beans when brewing is activated.

27 This adjusts the amount of water bypassing the filter, to control over-extraction of unwanted flavours from the coffee in the filter. 28 Turn it towards + to increase, or towards - to reduce the amount of water bypassing the filter.

29 Close the lid of the coffee maker, and press down the front to lock it closed. 31 Sit the carafe on the hotplate, with the spout pointing into the coffee maker. 32 You'll feel resistance as the carafe lid raises the non-drip valve on the bottom of the filter holder, 33 Don't put the carafe on the hotplate unless the coffee maker lid is closed you may push the non-drip valve (and the filter holder) up and out of place. 4
34 Put the plug into the power socket the display will light up, and the Y light will glow. 35 If you're using beans, press the Y button to select the grind time (20, 30, or 40 seconds). 20 seconds press once the Y light goes out, and a dot shows on the display above 20s 30 seconds press again the dot on the display moves to above 30s 40 seconds press again the dot on the display moves to above 40s no grind press again the dot on the display disappears, and the Y light glows 36 You may also use the Y button to stop the grinding process.

37 Ignore the clock. 39 The Y light will glow 40 If you're using coffee beans, the mill will operate. 42 When it's done, the Y light will go out and the coffee maker will beep

43 Set the clock to the correct time (the default is 12:00 pm): a) press and release the h button till the correct hour is shown b) press and release the min button till the correct minute is shown c) pm will show in the display when the time displayed passes noon d) The clock will retain its settings till the coffee maker is unplugged. a) press and release the Z button till a dot shows on the display above T b) press and release the h button till the correct hour is shown c) press and release the min button till the correct minute is shown d) press and release the [ button to activate the timer the Z light will glow e) If you don't press all the buttons within 10 seconds, the coffee maker will revert to "normal", and the time will show. leave it alone 45 That's it leave it alone till the preset time comes round, and it makes your coffee don't fiddle with it, you might upset it. 46 When the preset time comes round: a) the Z light will go out b) the [ light will glow c) if you're using coffee beans, the mill will operate d) coffee will start to drip into the carafe e) when it's done, the Y light will go out and the coffee maker will beep cancel?f) to cancel the timer, press and release the Z button till the dot shows above T g) press and release the [ button to deactivate the timer h) the Z light will go out, to show that the timer function has been cancelled 47 The timer will retain its settings till the coffee maker is unplugged, although the timer function won't be activated. 48 To reactivate the timer with the same preset time, go to point 53, but miss out parts b) and c). 49 If you want to cancel the timer before brewing has started, press and release the [ button.

50 The hotplate will keep the carafe warm for up to 3 hours 59 minutes. 51 After this "keep warm" period, the coffee maker will switch itself off. 52 If left for much more than an hour, chemical changes in the coffee liquor start to affect the flavour. [. . . ] 74 Don't wait till the H light glows before descaling descale regularly to keep your coffee maker in good working condition.
care and maintenance
1 Unplug the coffee maker and let it cool down before cleaning or storing away. 2 Tip the contents of the filter into the bin don't flush coffee grounds down the sink. 3 You may clean the removable parts (including the carafe) in warm soapy water, then rinse thoroughly. 4 Alternatively, you may wash them in the top tray of a dishwasher (but only in the top tray).
