· Fill to max, boil, discard the water, then rinse. Do this 3 times, to remove manufacturing dust, etc.

1 Put the stand on a stable, level surface. 2 Route the cable so it doesn't overhang, and can't be caught or tripped over. [. . . ] 23 If you get the temperature wrong, and want to change it: either pour the hot water away, and refill with cold water or wait till the kettle cools down (it'll cool a bit faster if you open the lid)
keep warm
24 If you want the kettle to keep the water at the set temperature, press and release the 9 button. , This function only works at the 90, 85, 80, 75, 70, 65, and 60 settings. 25 A dot will appear on the bottom right of the display to show that the keep warm function is operating. 26 When the keep warm function is operating, the display won't switch off after a minute, it'll remain lit. The flashing will stop when the water again reaches the set temperature. 29 To cancel the keep warm function, press and release the 9 button again the dot will disappear. caution keep an eye on the water level don't let the level get below 2 cups 30 To switch off manually, press and release 2. 31 This will switch off the element and the display, and put the kettle into standby mode. 4

33 Remove the kettle from the stand before pouring. 34 To avoid the risk of splashing, pour slowly and don't over-tilt the kettle. 35 Don't tilt the kettle backwards water might get on to the control area. 36 If this happens, let the kettle dry before use sit it somewhere warm for 12 hours. Don't worry it's the steam used to switch the kettle off automatically, which then condenses and escapes via vents under the kettle. It's due to the bonding of the element to the kettle floor.
using with insufficient water
39 This will shorten the life of the element. 41 To reset the cut-out, you must remove the kettle from the stand and let it go cold. 43 Don't fill the kettle till it's cold, or it may spit.
care and maintenance
1 Unplug the stand (switch the socket off first, if it's switchable), and let the kettle cool down fully. You may use a little household detergent, but if you do, rinse well to avoid tainting the water. 5 Don't use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents or solvents.

6 Limescale may be white, coloured, even rusty-looking, but it's normally visible. 7 Phosphate scale isn't generally visible, but it's there, even in soft water areas. 8 All scale causes overheating, reduces the kettle's life, and may trigger the boil-dry cut-out. [. . . ] To replace the plug, fit the green/yellow wire to E or E, the blue wire to N, and the brown wire to L. Don't use a non-rewireable plug unless the fuse cover is in place. If you remove the plug, dispose of it.
