In the overall EWS system, the EWS64 occupies the position of the sampling synthesizer, combining a fat sound with the advantages of powerful Windows controls. [. . . ] On the other hand, all synthesizer functions can be applied individually to each split. The software imports samples and sounds in WAV, SF2 (Soundfont), 94B (sound cards with Dream chipset) and AKAI (S-1000) formats. A wide range of third-party sound CDs have since been published specifically for the EWS64 which make the most of its impressive sound generation capabilities. Without any loss the DXR module allows for digital (S/PDIF) communication with external devices, such as DAT recorders and MiniDisks, and lets you choose the interface optic or coaxial in both directions. [. . . ] This way the digital audio data for supported sampling frequencies (32, 44, 1 and 48 KHz), is transmitted directly 1 to 1 there is no need to convert it later.
