[. . . ] Dear Customer, we thank you for the confidence you prove in purchasing our product. It will match your high demands towards sound and manufacturing quality. Though it is understandable that you want to plug and play this product instantaneously, we encourage you to read this manual carefully before installation. It will help you in handling and operating this machine in your system and obtaining the best possible performance, even if it was installed by your dealer. [. . . ] AUTO MUTE This activates or deactivates the volume mute during the manual search process in radio mode and suppresses noise from interference between stations. A suitable antenna for each mode must be connected to the appliance (11)(12). TUNING MODE This allows you to choose between three settings which determine the function of the keys "TUNING PRESET" (9)(24): "MANUAL" (manual frequency search), "AUTO" (automatic frequency search) or "PRESET" (change between stations stored in the memory). Number keys Buttons 0-9 let you input the frequency or select a station from the memory. ST/MONO In tuner mode, you can change between the station's stereo and mono reception. If a station's reception is of low quality in stereo, the sound quality can be increased by the "MONO" setting. The function of these keys are determined by the setting made with the button "TUNING MODE" (3)(20). RDS MODE This button can be used in FM mode to switch on RDS (Radio Data System) for stations that support this service. Connect the power cable between device and power supply only after all other connections have been made. DURING INSTALLATION PLEASE OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING ADVICE: Protective caps Prior to the first installation the protective plastic caps must be removed from all the connections used at the rear of the unit. Inadequate connections can cause noise interference, failures and malfunctions. RCA connections Make sure that you do not mix up the analogue connectors for right and left. The RCA plugs for these are mostly colour coded as follows: red for the right channel, black or white for the left channel. To make the most of the components' sound potential, only high quality loudspeakers and connecting cables, for example Vincent cables, should be used. The required voltage and frequency can be read on the back of the device beside the socket for the mains. If the electricity supply is appropriate, push the inlet connector of the supplied mains cable firmly into socket for the mains on the back of the device (15). If a wall socket is available for the VHF antenna connection of satellite, cable or a roof aerial, connect its radio socket with the input socket "FM 75" (11) on the appliance. If "ST" is displayed, the station can be played back in stereo. Use the "TUNING MODE" button on the front of the appliance or on the remote control to select from the three possible settings (function of the buttons "TUNING PRESET") the option "AUTOSCAN". As long as this mode is selected the display shows the text "AUTO". Now the buttons "TUNING PRESET" make the tuner step through all frequency settings automatically if touched once. The automatic search stops when the tuner has found a frequency at which a radio station can be received. [. . . ] Symptom Unit does not work after pressing the power button Possible Cause Mains cable is not connected to a suitable mains wall outlet. Mains cable has not been firmly inserted into wall power socket and the device's socket. If necessary, exchange it with a suitable mains cable and push its plug firmly into wall socket and the device's power connector. No sound on both channels although the unit is ready for use (LED "WARM UP" is lit) The output of the tuner is not connected or is not connected correctly to the selected input channel terminal of the amplifier.
