Any damage must be reported to your dealer within 24 hours after delivery of the appliance. [. . . ] Freezer T° alarm The acoustic alarm will sound and the red LED will blink, T° disappears from the display and two hyphens appear. The alarm is activated when: • The appliance is connected to the power supply for the first time or after prolonged disuse. • The quantity of foods loaded into the freezer exceeds that indicated on the data plate. Power failure alarm The maximum T° reached during a power failure blinks on the freezer display. The red alarm LED lights up and the acoustic alarm sounds at the same time. The alarm is activated when: • A prolonged power failure takes place, causing the internal temperature of the freezer to increase to values that cannot guarantee safe storage of food. Note Check the state of the food in both compartments before refreezing or using it!Operation alarms If the acoustic alarm sounds and the display shows letters, contact the Whirlpool After-sales Service. 21 3gb33086. fm Page 22 Wednesday, March 3, 2004 10:17 AM Guide to the refrigerator/freezer control panel Freezer/Refrigerator Door Open Alarm The acoustic alarm and red LED are activated when: • One or both of the doors are left open for more than 2 minutes. If the door is not closed, the acoustic alarm will sound again after two minutes. Removal and rearrangement of the refrigerator and freezer shelves The shelves may be positioned to suit your particular requirements. The glass shelves are strong enough to hold bottles, milk cartons and heavy food; nonetheless, avoid banging these down on the shelves. To remove the shelves: Slide the shelf out until it stops, then lift it up and remove it. Removal of the fruit and vegetable drawer or the meat drawer: • Slide the drawer out until it stops; • With one hand underneath the drawer, lift it and pull it out; • The drawer will come out of its runners and can be pulled out further; • To remove completely, the drawer will need to be rotated: front end up, back end down. To remove the glass cover of the drawer • Lift the front of the frame 10 cm, then with your other hand, lift the back of the frame and pull it out. To replace the glass cover of the drawer • Insert the back of the frame in the supports on the refrigerator walls and lower it back into place. Meat drawer temperature control • The cold air flows into the meat drawer through an opening between the refrigerator and the freezer compartment. In this way the temperature inside the meat drawer is lower than in other parts of the refrigerator. • If you wish to store vegetables in the meat drawer, move the control all the way to the left to the vegetables setting. • When this function is activated, the meat drawer slider must be set to “vegetables”. 22 3gb33086. fm Page 23 Wednesday, March 3, 2004 10:17 AM Fruit and vegetables drawer moisture control • The control may be set to any position between LOW and HIGH . • excludes damp air from the drawer for better preservation of fruit and vegetables with peel. • keeps damp air inside the drawer for better preservation of leafy vegetables. [. . . ] If the motor seems to run too much: • Is the condenser free of dust and fluff?• On hot days or if the room is warm, the motor naturally runs longer. If the door has been opened a lot or if a large amount of food has been stored, the motor will run longer to cool down the interior. Remember Motor running time depends on different things: number of door openings, amount of food stored, temperature of the room, setting of the temperature controls. [. . . ]
